The "Brandschacht" according to DIN 4102-15 is used to determine the fire behavior of building materials and building elements.

4 specimens are arranged chimney-like in a fire chamber around a square burner. The fire chamber is supplied with a defined air flow from below. A defined methane/air mixture fires the burner. The temperature and smoke density of the ris­ ing fire gases are measured at the top of the fire chamber. The pressure generated in the fire chamber is also measured.
