Measurement of smoke density in relation to evacuation of people and accessibility for firefighters.

Cable and line sections of 1000 mm length are placed over a trough filled with an alcohol mixture. The alcohol is then ignited and the resulting smoke is mixed with the combustion chamber air by means of a fan. A photometric system measures the smoke darkening.
