Method 3

The device is used to determine the effect of flames on respi­ ratory protective equipment such as respirators. It is tested whether the specimen starts to burn or whether other hazards may occur for the user.

A specimen is placed in a specimen holder. The specimen is then drawn over a propane gas burner at a temperature of approx. 800ºC at a speed of 60±5 mm/s. This is done in various burner positions. For this purpose, the burner can be moved in depth with a manual spindle drive. The specimen is moved with an electric spindle drive on a linear guide.
